I AM FREE FROM MY ADDICTION: Posted 1/5/2010 12:01:41 PM

My name is Juanita Blanford, and I have been free from my addiction for 16 years. Many of you had been through terrible addictions which could feel like a lifetime but today, please allow me to take this moment in all humility to share this with you and try to be a voice in the desert for those willing to free themselves, and better the quality of their life. I was meditating on Ephesians 5:1-20, For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. It was a Saturday at the Women In Ministry Worship service. That day, I remember saying, "Loose my inheritance for a cigarette". I did not pay much attention to it until the next morning after smoking the last cigarette in my pack. The Sunday School Lessons was also taken from Ephesians 5, and my spirit was pricked again. After closing out my secretarial report for the Sunday School, I stood up and God began to deal with me. Tears began to roll down my face and I began to walk all around the Sunday School Room singing Walk In the Light, I just could not stop crying and singing. I collected myself enough to enter the sanctuary and, I was very surprised to hear my Pastor preached from Ephesians 5. - The significance of this song is that I was smoking in the dark, never in front of certain people because of shame. Shame to be confessing Jesus Christ and smoking. On my way home, as soon as I put the car key in the door, the song came back and I began to sing: Walk in the light, beautiful light, come where the dew drops of Mercy, shine bright, shine all around me by day and by night. Jesus is the Light of the World! Passing by the gas station where I usually buy cigarettes I felt a sword coming from my stomach. I humped over the steering wheel and I heard a voice saying, "Crucify Her! Crucify Her". So I pushed the handle of the sword and I felt its point go through my back and smokey Juanita laid down on the steering wheel and died. I manage to drive and pull in my driveway still crying and singing that song. When I woke up the next morning I was FREE. I never had any urge or desire for a cigarette since. I didn''t have to try not to buy one or be afraid of being around others that smoked. None of that bothered me! It was over! So when God does it my Sisters and Brothers, it is done and done well. When I was smoking I didn''t have the will power to stop myself. I prayed that specific prayer from my heart. Sincerely I am here to testify that God does give us in His time the desire of our hearts. Amen! I found my strength buy reading the Bible and other books of worship.
